La Joya sits west of the Arco Vial, on the Playa del Carmen side of the ring road that keeps the truck traffic out of the city. It is one of the last areas where residential lots still change hands by the square metre rather than by the finished unit, which is why what sells here is land and what gets built is houses. Paseo Xaman-Ha and Paseo Copán are the spines. Best for buyers who want to build rather than buy finished.
